Born in 1930 with the merger of Dutch margarine producer Margarine Unie and British soapmaker Lever Brothers, Unilever is one of largest consumer goods companies in the world. We produce 400 brands, spanning 14 categories of well-known and respected Foods, Home Care and Personal Care products. It is believed that 1 in 2 households in the world have a Unilever brand in their home. From tea in the morning, to soups at lunch, to moisturisers in the evening, 150 million times a day people all over the world use our products…that’s 150 million opportunities to provide every single day our consumers with the nutrition, hygiene and personal care to make them ‘feel good, look good and get more out of life’. We lead the home care market through our cleansing and hygiene products in much of the world. Unilever started to invest in South Central Europe in 1995 with the acquisition of the Dero factory in Ploiesti, Romania. Nowadays, the Ploiesti platform produces detergents (Omo, Dero, Bona), soups, seasonings, dressings (Knorr, Delikat) and margarine (Becel, Rama, Delma). Headquartered in Bucharest, Unilever South Central Europe (USCE) coordinates affairs in the whole region – Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Moldova, Macedonia and Albania – that numbers over 55 million consumers. In 2006, Romania brought 70% of USCE’s total turnover of 170 million Euros. Currently, the company employs almost 850 people, 720 of them in Romania. USCE manages three major divisions – Foods, Home Care and Personal Care – and holds a leading position on the FMCG market with brands such as Knorr, Lipton, Delma, Algida, Hellmann's, Cocolino, Dero, Cif, Domestos, Dove, Axe and Rexona.
